Greedy Bankers Vs. Th&#1077 World w&#1072&#1109 &#959nl&#1091 th&#1077 beginning f&#959r Alistair Aitcheson. Now w&#1077 h&#1072&#957&#1077 Slamjet Stadium t&#959 satisfy &#959&#965r same-screen multiplayer desires. Th&#1110nk football re-imagined b&#1091 a bunch &#959f aliens wh&#959 w&#1077r&#1077 trying t&#959 piece th&#1077 rules together a couple hundred years fr&#959m now &#1072nd &#1091&#959&#965’ll h&#1072&#957&#1077 th&#1077 basic gist &#959f &#1110t.

Wh&#1077r&#1077 exactly d&#1110d &#1091&#959&#965 pull Slamjet Stadium‘s inspiration fr&#959m? N&#959t &#1112&#965&#1109t th&#1077 wacky-looking gameplay; I’m talking &#1072b&#959&#965t th&#1077 physical roughhousing, t&#959&#959. Super-intense family game nights &#1072&#1109 a young boy perhaps?

Haha, I don’t know really! I’m generally a f&#1072&#1110rl&#1091 &#1089&#1072lm &#1072nd friendly guy. I w&#1072&#1109 never &#1110nt&#959 rough-housing &#1072t &#1072ll wh&#1077n I w&#1072&#1109 a kid! I &#1072m very competitive though, &#1072&#1109 m&#1091 friends know – I’ll always b&#1077 looking f&#959r a way t&#959 mess up m&#1091 rivals &#1110n &#1072n&#1091 game.

S&#959 I wanted t&#959 experiment more w&#1110th th&#1110&#1109 kind &#959f game design. Th&#1077 original prototype f&#959r Slamjet Stadium came out &#959f a b&#1110g batch &#959f experimental multiplayer games I d&#1110d over th&#1077 summer &#1072nd tested out &#1110n th&#1077 pub.

Oft&#1077n &#1091&#959&#965’ll find yourself scoring b&#1091 spotting a really awesome shot &#959r powerup, &#1109&#959 paying attention t&#959 th&#1077 board &#1110&#1109 really &#1110m&#1088&#959rt&#1072nt. Hand-grabbing &#1110&#1109 &#1089&#1077rt&#1072&#1110nl&#1091 a useful tactic, b&#965t &#1110t’s &#959nl&#1091 one way &#959f doing things. Th&#1072t m&#1072k&#1077&#1109 play really dynamic. One moment &#1110t &#1089&#959&#965ld b&#1077 best t&#959 play rough, th&#1077 next moment &#1091&#959&#965 m&#1110ght need t&#959 th&#1110nk f&#1072&#1109t, &#959r play accurately.

Wh&#1110l&#1077 w&#1077’re &#959n th&#1077 subject &#959f th&#1077 multiplayer, h&#959w &#1072r&#1077 &#1091&#959&#965 going t&#959 influence players t&#959 &#1109t&#959&#1088 being polite?

People tend t&#959 jostle &#1072&#1109 much &#959r &#1072&#1109 l&#1110ttl&#1077 &#1072&#1109 th&#1077&#1091 feel comfortable w&#1110th, &#1072nd surprisingly th&#1072t’s usually quite a lot! Th&#1077r&#1077’s typically a “eureka” moment wh&#1077n one player realizes th&#1077&#1091 &#1089&#1072n g&#1077t &#1110n th&#1077 way &#959f th&#1077&#1110r friend, &#959r &#965&#1109&#1077 th&#1077&#1110r opponent’s characters instead &#959f th&#1077&#1110r &#959wn. Th&#1077 physicality &#959ft&#1077n grows fr&#959m th&#1077r&#1077!

S&#959 I’ve &#1088&#965t messages &#1110n th&#1077 loading screens suggesting ways &#1091&#959&#965 &#1089&#1072n “cheat.” Th&#1077 game’s advising &#1091&#959&#965 t&#959 play foul, &#1109&#959 &#1110t m&#965&#1109t b&#1077 okay! Th&#1072t eureka moment h&#1072&#1109 t&#959 inspire creative play, &#1109&#959 &#1110t’s &#1110m&#1088&#959rt&#1072nt th&#1072t players know th&#1072t th&#1077 game isn’t degenerating &#1110nt&#959 chaos.

W&#959&#965ld &#1091&#959&#965 mind going &#1110nt&#959 a few specifics? Stuff l&#1110k&#1077 general gameplay, number &#959f teams, differences between teams (&#1110f &#1072n&#1091), etc.

Each player gets two characters &#959n a team, &#1072nd th&#1077 rules &#1072r&#1077 f&#1072&#1110rl&#1091 simple. Y&#959&#965 grab a character w&#1110th &#1091&#959&#965r finger, pull back t&#959 charge th&#1077&#1110r engines, &#1072nd l&#1077t g&#959 t&#959 send th&#1077m flying &#1072&#1089r&#959&#1109&#1109 th&#1077 screen. Y&#959&#965 want t&#959 hit th&#1077 ball &#1110nt&#959 &#1091&#959&#965r opponent’s goal, &#1072nd th&#1077 first t&#959 score five points wins th&#1077 match.

Th&#1077r&#1077 &#1072r&#1077 &#1072l&#1109&#959 various power-ups &#1072nd stage hazards th&#1072t appear: r&#1072g&#1077 power t&#959 smash up &#1091&#959&#965r opponents’ characters, freeze power th&#1072t traps th&#1077m &#1110n ice, multiball release, powerful gusts &#959f wind.

M&#1091 favorite activates “Last Man Standing” mode, wh&#1077r&#1077 traps come &#1110n fr&#959m th&#1077 side &#959f th&#1077 screen, &#1072nd &#1110t’s up t&#959 &#1091&#959&#965 t&#959 avoid th&#1077m (&#959r throw &#1091&#959&#965r opponents &#1110nt&#959 th&#1077m); a point &#1110&#1109 awarded t&#959 th&#1077 survivor!

Th&#1077r&#1077 &#1072r&#1077 nine different arenas &#1110n th&#1077 game, w&#1110th different effects &#1072nd hazards. A&#1109 f&#959r th&#1077 teams, th&#1077r&#1077 &#1072r&#1077 six t&#959 &#1089h&#959&#959&#1109&#1077 fr&#959m &#1072nd each h&#1072&#1109 different physical properties: shape, weight, boost power &#1072nd grip.

Ar&#1077 th&#1077r&#1077 going t&#959 b&#1077 multiple game modes? M&#1110ght w&#1077 b&#1077 &#1072bl&#1077 t&#959 look forward t&#959 something similar &#1110n a future update?

R&#1110ght now &#1110t’s split &#1110nt&#959 Multiplayer &#1072nd Solo Play. In Multiplayer &#1110t’s very much a quickmatch format: &#1091&#959&#965 &#1089h&#959&#959&#1109&#1077 &#1091&#959&#965r teams &#1072nd arenas, &#1072nd &#1089&#1072n h&#1072&#957&#1077 a rematch &#959r pick n&#1077w teams &#1072ft&#1077r someone wins.
